It's the most popular album by one of the greatest power pop bands of all time...and it's never been on vinyl. Welcome Interstate Managers was hailed as a classic from the day it came out in 2003, and featured the band's biggest hit with "Stacy's Mom." The songcraft and lyrical wit of Chris Collingwood and the late, great Adam Schlesinger have never been sharper; there's not a bad song on this record and a lot of them (e.g. "Bright Future in Sales;" "Hackensack") rise to the same lofty perch as "Stacy's Mom."
For RSD Black Friday, Real Gone Music presents this landmark album on a 2 x LP set inside a gatefold jacket with two printed inner sleeves featuring lyrics. Natural/black swirl vinyl matches the cover art, and there’s even a bonus track: the non-LP b-side to the “Stacy's Mom” single, “Elevator Up”! 3000 released worldwide.
“Mexican Wine”/”Bright Future In Sales”/”Stacy's Mom”/”Hackensack”/”No Better Place”/”Valley Winter Song”/”All Kinds Of Time”/”Little Red Light”/”Hey Julie”/”Halley’s Waitress”/”Hung Up On You”/”Fire Island”/”Peace And Love”/”Bought For A Song”/”Supercollider”/”Yours And Mine”/”Elevator Up” (Bonus Track)

Brooklyn-based rapper Half-A-Mill climbed his way up from the underground in the late ‘90s with an initial breakthrough on 1997’s one and only album by The Firm, the supergroup featuring Nas, AZ, Nature and Foxy Brown, alongside producers Dr. Dre and the Trackmasters.
After this high-profile appearance, Half-a-Mill then started setting the stage for the release of his debut album “Milíon” with the single ”Thug Ones" which featured Noreaga, Kool G Rap, and Musolini. “Milíon” became an underground classic, featuring guest appearances by AZ, Kool G Rap, Musalini, Noreaga, Ali Vegas and Spice 1, with production by Just Blaze, The Neptunes, DJ Scratch, and DJ Ali among others.

Backed by Ron Carter on bass and Tony Williams behind the drums, the recording features Hancock originals as well as the Trio’s take on Miles Davis’ “Milestones.”
Though recorded at fabled San Francisco studio The Automatt, the recording was only immediately issued in Japan. To this day Japan is the only country to see a vinyl release of this session. That changes on RSD Black Friday as Get On Down presents The Herbie Hancock Trio in a complete replica of the Japanese release including a full-color insert and deluxe OBI strip.

Originally released in November 1970 as a single, Harrison's first as a solo artist, and topped charts worldwide; it was the biggest-selling single of 1971 in the UK. In America and Britain, the song was the first number-one single by an ex-Beatle.
The b-side is an anthemic ballad and one of Harrison's most celebrated compositions. "Isn't It a Pity" has been described as the emotional and musical centerpiece of All Things Must Pass and "a poignant reflection on The Beatles' coarse ending". Co-produced by Phil Spector, the recording employs multiple keyboard players, rhythm guitarists and percussionists, as well as orchestration by arranger John Barham. In its extended fadeout, the song references the closing refrain of the Beatles' 1968 hit "Hey Jude". Other musicians on the recording include Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, Gary Wright and the band Badfinger, while the reprise version features Eric Clapton on lead guitar.
“My Sweet Lord”/”Isn't It A Pity”

The Jahari Massamba Unit features Madlib on all instrumentation with the exception of drums, which are laid down by Karriem Riggins. Like Madlib, Riggins is well-versed in both the worlds of Jazz and Hip Hop. Musically, Madlib’s label says “we would call the project Spiritual Jazz, but jazz great Phil Ranelin told us to call it Black Classical Music, so that’s what we’re going with.”
This is an album put together by students of jazz in its myriad and historic corms who are also proponents of jazz’s future. The resulting recording reflects a lifetime of record collecting, musical study, woodshedding, and a reverential respect for one another’s craft. Regardless of categorization this is an exciting an all new entry in Madlib’s Yesterdays New Quintet canon of difficult-to-categorize music.

Throughout their career, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings remained in high demand both publicly and privately to recreate and often re-imagine songs by other artists. More often than not, these covers were recorded by request, commissioned for placement in movies, television programs, tribute albums, or for samples. This album compiles some of their most popular and some never-before-heard renditions Though the band mostly built their career on a prolific catalog of originals, these forays into other artists' compositions lay bare their gift for arrangement and the unmatched studio prowess that earned them their reputation as The Baddest Band in the Land.

No Business: The PPX Sessions Volume 2 continues the documentation of Jimi Hendrix’s pre-Experience sideman work with the Harlem-based R&B combo. These twelve recordings were captured at Studio 76 in 1965 [as well as two controversial sessions in July and August 1967] and offer a fascinating glimpse of Hendrix’s genius in the years before—and during—his early success. It includes the 1965 demo of the first known Hendrix composition (“Working All Day”) and shiver-inducing guitar playing that hints at the genius to come. While not a Jimi Hendrix album the music is now under the control of Experience Hendrix, and thanks to them has been lovingly restored by legendary engineer Eddie Kramer for RSD Black Friday, giving fans the chance to enjoy these tracks in their proper historical context in a numbered, limited edition brown vinyl release.

Verve Label Group is proud to launch a new vinyl series, Original Grooves, available exclusively on Record Store Day and RSD Black Friday. Original Grooves showcases the vinyl cutting technique known as "parallel grooves”, where grooves are cut side-by-side instead of one after another, allowing for a different aural experience depending on where the needle is dropped. The first of this series comes from five-time Grammy nominee Bettye LaVette, with hidden gems from Verve legends Billie Holiday and Nina Simone. The Blues Hall of Fame legend deftly reinterprets the classics “Strange Fruit” and “I Hold No Grudge” on this 12” EP, with the original timeless versions “hidden” on the neighboring grooves.

The son of acclaimed author Larry McMurtry (Lonesome Dove, Terms of Endearment), James grew up on a steady diet of Johnny Cash and Roy Acuff records. 2005's Childish Things garnered some of the highest critical praise of McMurtry's career and spent six weeks at number one on R&R's Americana Music Radio Chart in 2005 and 2006. In September 2006, Childish Things and "We Can't Make It Here" won the Americana Music Awards for album and song of the year, respectively.
