Jimmy Webb takes on piano classics on his album SlipCover. Using his own instrumental piano arrangements, Webb shows off the complex melodies that he says will "make you hear these musicians more as composers, than rock stars and songwriters." His piano playing, in what he calls "this minimalist setting," weaves together disparate influences. It draws on classical music, L.A. pop, and occasionally the fluid "slip note" style of Floyd Cramer, one of the key architects of the Nashville sound. Label: SC1/S-Curve Recordsback to top
