Blending elements of arena style rock and roll, alongside the powerful lead vocals of Jimi Jamison and Dave Bickler, Survivor scored their first Top-40 on the Hot 100 with 1981's "Poor Man's Son" but their big break would come the following year when the band was asked by Sylvester Stallone to provide the theme song for Rocky III. That single, "Eye Of The Tiger," hit No. 1 and earned both Grammy and Academy Award nominations. The band struck paydirt again on 1985's Rocky IV with "Burning Heart" hitting No. 2 on the singles chart. The band's Vital Signs (1984) album was another huge success, peaking at No. 16 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart thanks to the trio of Top-20 hits "I Can't Hold Back" (No. 13), "High On You" (No. 8) and "The Search Is Over" (No. 4). Featuring all of the aforementioned hits and more, 2006's The Best Of Survivor is available on vinyl for the first time courtesy of Friday Music.
