What's New 3-3-23
Uchis’ most immersive project yet—a bottomless plunge into the waters of love and loss. The fluid groove of “Blue” feels like a Sade B-side, while “Love Between” weaves doo-wop nostalgia into crystalline romantic reverie. Often, it’s her smoldering voice that holds all the dreaminess together. It’s never maximalist, always utilitarian, molded to fit revenge and desire in equal measure.
Technical Death Metal is a notoriously crowded arena which is why it’s exciting to see a band like Entheos ascend by becoming a wholly more progressive and experimental entity. No longer needing to compromise their vision, the increased diversity in almost every facet has only seen this band grow exponentially into an exciting and creative force. The more tantalizing aspect is that they can go even further.
Four master collaborators at the peak of their craft with near-telepathic cohesion. Silver Saturdays features 10 new songs that pay homage to a 25-year journey. All four members lend their distinctive vocals. Their concise, meticulously crafted songwriting is interwoven with Lebo’s soaring acoustic-electric guitar. Gill’s tasty keyboard comping and Adams’ bass groove married to Lipp’s rhythmic flourishes.
The third solo album from the Seattle native, rapper and songwriter best known as one-half of duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Includes "Chant (featuring Tones And I), "Faithful" (featuring NLE Choppa), "Heroes" (featuring DJ Premier – considered one of the greatest hip hop producers of all time), and "Maniac" (featuring Windsor). *Available on Indie Exclusive vinyl with alternate cover*
The 36-song mega collection brings together Wallen’s many musical influences including country, alternative and hip-hop, and features with country bigwigs Eric Church, Hardy and Ernest. Of the hefty length, Wallen says, “there are 36 songs on this album because we just kept exploring with fresh lyrics, music and production ideas and these are the songs that felt right to me.”
Over the course of the record traversing between oddball dance-punk and noise pop, Gallo shares detailed anecdotes and takes on male entitlement, the age of anxiety, apathy vs. action, narcissism, retail therapy, xenophobia, the dread of future generations, right wing extremists in giant pickup trucks, capitalism, and climate change. it’s the opposite of background music - unavoidable, urgent, in your face.
Alabama native Drayton Farley has as honest a voice as you're likely to hear in this burgeoning scene of country, folk, roots, and Americana music we're all wrapped up in. He sings as deeply about the love he holds as the love he's lost and there's something so broken-in and comfortable about that Southern inflection that every song feels like coming home.
Drummer and composer Kendrick Scott returns with his first compositional treatment of trio context: saxophone, bass, and drums. Corridors unveils an exposed rumination from the Houston-born artist and his acclaimed collaborators: saxophonist Walter Smith III and bassist Reuben Rogers. Born during the pandemic lockdown, the record focuses on posing outward questions instead of inward contemplation.

Morgan Wallen - One Thing At A Time - Big Loud / Mercury Records / Republic Records
Morgan Wallen's 3rd studio album, One Thing At A Time, releases via Big Loud/Mercury/Republic. Wallen's 36-song, deeply personal album combines his musical influences (country/alternative/hip-hop). With so much new music, the stage is set for his 63-date/30 stadium One Night At A Time World Tour. This album follows the success of his 4x platinum, Dangerous: The Double Album, which notched historical chart status at Billboard's longest running Top 10 album for a solo artist.
De La Soul - 3 Feet High And Rising - Chrysalis
3 Feet High And Rising is the debut studio album by hip hop trio De La Soul and was released on March 3, 1989. It marked the first of three full-length collaborations with producer Prince Paul, which would become the critical and commercial peak of both parties. Critically, as well as commercially, the album was a success. It contains the singles, "Me Myself and I", "The Magic Number, " "Buddy, " and "Eye Know". The album title came from the Johnny Cash song "Five Feet High and Rising". It is listed on Rolling Stone's 200 Essential Rock Records and The Source's 100 Best Rap Albums. When Village Voice held it's annual Pazz & Jop Critics Poll for 1989, 3 Feet High and Rising was ranked #1. It was also listed on the Rolling Stone's The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Released amid the 1989 boom in gangsta rap, which gravitated towards hardcore, confrontational, violent lyrics, de la Soul's uniquely positive style made them an oddity beginning with the first single, "Me, Myself and I". Their positivity meant many observers labeled them a "hippie" group, based on their declaration of the "D.A.I.S.Y. Age" (Da. Inner. Soul. Yall). Sampling artists as diverse as Hall & Oates, Steely Dan and The Turtles, 3 Feet High and Rising is often viewed as the stylistic beginning of 1990s alternative hip hop (and especially jazz rap).
Frank Zappa - Zappa '80: Mudd Club/Munich - Zappa Records
Zappa '80: Mudd Club/Munich combines 2 historical performances from the 1980 spring/summer tour. The first is a set at Frank Zappa's favorite NYC nightclub, the famous Mudd Club, presented from a hi-res transfer of the original master tape. The second, from Olympiahalle in Munich, is the first-ever direct-to-digital live stereo recording of Zappa. Mastered by Bernie Grundman in 2022, with photography and memoir from George Alper, and liner notes from Arthur Barrow, Steve Vai & `Vaultmeister' Joe Travers.
Also Available: Zappa ’80: Munich [3LP], Zappa ’80: Mudd Club [2LP]
Elvis Costello & Burt Bacharach - The Songs Of Bacharach & Costello - UMe
The Songs Of Bacharach & Costello, brings together all of the published songs that Costello has written with Burt Bacharach, celebrating the three decade songwriting partnership between them. Compiled by Costello, the Super Deluxe Edition includes the newly remastered album, Painted From Memory, along with a new collection, Taken From Life, featuring unreleased songs from the proposed "Painted From Memory" musical score, plus live performances, and a detailed 10,000 word essay by Costello.
Hollow Coves - Wanderlust EP - Nettwerk Records
Australian indie-folk duo Hollow Coves' release their debut EP 'Wanderlust' on CD and vinyl. It highlights Hollow Coves trademark soft lyrics and harmonies embedded deep into the acoustic guitar melodies. Since the EP's release, "Coastline" and "The Woods" are now certified GOLD status in Canada, and the minute long "Interlude" has found resonance on Tiktok and Meta soundtracked to stunning & on-brand travel and wanderlust themed content. The band has grown their own live following, translating their recorded music showcasing both their softer side and a lively stomp and holler show that has led to opening for Passenger and The Lumineers.

What's New 2-24-23
Gorillaz’ eighth studio album is an energetic, upbeat, genre-expansive collection featuring yet another stellar line-up of artist collaborators: Thundercat, Tame Impala, Bad Bunny, Stevie Nicks, Adeleye Omotayo, Bootie Brown and Beck. Produced by Gorillaz, Remi Kabaka Jr. and eight-time Grammy Award-winning producer / multi-instrumentalist / songwriter extraordinaire Greg Kurstin.
By adapting songs and guitar parts that had been left over from the group’s previous two albums, Lucero was able to construct one of its most comprehensive works to date. Should’ve Learned by Now bridges the gap musically between “old Lucero” and “new Lucero” in a manner which affixes the band’s position as the perfect intersection of punk initiative with hard-earned artistry.
Bless This Mess marks both a divergence from and deepening of Meg Remy's songbook, more at peace with her restless truths and moods. Long-time collaborator Maximilian Turnbull plays a key role facilitating these fluid muses. As artists and partners their rapport at this point is thoroughly symbiotic, able to tap into subtle veins of humor and heaviness, rhythm, and reverie.
That the Raincoats bassist pieced her first solo album together over two decades is only suggested through its stylistic diversity: alt-rock scuzz sits among Velvet Underground drones and digi-dub calls to action. And yet I Play My Bass Loud coheres through the sheer magnetism of Birch's personality and playing, and her unrelenting commitment to examining the forces that have acted upon women since the dawn of time.
The Pretty Reckless’ first proper set of acoustic recordings brings together versions of previously released songs as well as covers and other re-imaginings. The 11-track release is partially a response to fans' love for the band's acoustic performances, as well as a way to offer nuggets that didn't make their other records.
Pierce The Veil are known for masterfully blending post-hardcore punk and prog. Now on their fifth studio album, the band is showing more ambition and experimentation than ever before. Jaws of Life shows they aren't afraid to dip their toes into new sounds and styles. Five albums in, Pierce The Veil are still at the beginning of their journey and discovery as a band.
