Remember how wild and crazy and surreal all those Japanese karaoke and arcade scenes seemed in Lost in Translation? Us neither. So one would think, especially with their bizarro noise rock history (Guitar Wolf, the Boredoms, Melt-Banana), our neighbors to the west are similarly nonplussed by the asylum-escapee malevolence of, say, Iowas masked marauders in Slipknot. Not the case, as evidenced by the frothing mania captured on this live CD/DVD. The Knot compiled these 20 tantrums from gigs not just in Tokyo and Osaka, but other well-known hallmarks of caning, carousing and general insanity: Singapore and Las Vegas. Were still curious about the payment breakdown for all those dudes who just bang garbage cans for 90 minutes, but thats just jealousy talking. Given Slipknots notoriously unhinged stage shows, this intricately packaged set really is the next best thing to being there, especially if, like much of the fanbase, you lack a drivers license.
