One of the first-ever hip hop singles, The Sugarhill Gang's infectious 'Rapper's Delight' was also the first to cross over into the pop mainstream, becoming an international hit in 1979. It went on to sell over eight million copies. That all-time classic closes this exciting concert, recorded at the 1998 Lokerse Jazz Festival, in which the group also feature their two other influential hits, '8th Wonder and 'Apache'. The group are joined on stage by Grandmaster Melle Mel for the last six numbers. These include two other pioneering hip hop anthems which Melle Mel recorded with Grandmaster Flash, 'The Message' and 'White Lines'.
