"Nils" (1979) is the seventh studio album by American rock musician, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Nils (Hilmer) Lofgren, born on June 21, 1951, in Chicago. The album blends rock and pop rock elements, showcasing Lofgren's skillful guitar work and songwriting abilities. It features a mix of upbeat tracks and ballads, highlighting his versatility as a musician. Songs from the album, especially "No Mercy" and "Shine Silently, " have been staples in Lofgren's live performances, demonstrating their lasting appeal. The album, produced by Bob Ezrin, known for his work with Alice Cooper ("Billion Dollar Babies", "School's Out"), Kiss ("Destroyer"), Lou Reed ("Berlin"), Peter Gabriel ("Car") and Pink Floyd ("The Wall"), features polished production typical of rock albums of the late '70s, with a clear and balanced mix that emphasizes Lofgren's vocals and guitar work. In addition to being a solo artist, Nils Lofgren has been a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band since 1984 and a member of Crazy Horse (1970-1971, 1973, 2018-present). Lofgren was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the E Street Band in 2014.
