Techung is a Tibetan singer/songwriter/performer living in the San Francisco Bay Area. He grew up in the exile Tibetan community of Dharamsala, India, following the occupation of Tibet by Chinese communist government, in 1949. Techung studied music and traditional performing arts at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts in Dharamsala, India. His voice and music has been featured on the soundtracks of the IMAX film'Everest'; in music by George Harrison,feature film 'Windhorse', the documentary film 'Stranger in My Native Land', in 'Three Days For Tibet', a video documentary about a concert in Dharamsala with Joan Osborne, Zakir Hussain and other musicians, the Milarepa Fund's PSA for the1999 Tibetan Freedom Concert. His music and voice are also being used in a documentary film 'Tibet's Stolen Child' by Garthwaite and Griffin and 'Thsewa; In the Freedom of Exile' by Luna Picure Inc. And Amnesty International's PSA with Ven. Palden Gyato.
